The Illinois State men's golf team looks to the Illini Spring Classic at the Stone Creek Golf Club in Urbana, Ill., Saturday and Sunday, to serve as a final challenge before the Redbirds compete in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
During the two-day, 54-hole tournament, the `Birds will be competing against the entire Big 10 conference, aside from Iowa.
Play begins with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Saturday includes two rounds with 36 holes and will conclude Sunday with a final 18 holes.
Jeff Kellen, Eric Meier, Wils Hawn, Will Cullen and Ricky Hearden will be competing in the Big-10 packed field.
The tournament field (with the Golfweek rankings in parentheses) includes Illinois (12), Ohio State (23), Indiana (34), Michigan (42), Purdue (44), Northwestern (56), Penn State (68), Minnesota (69), Xavier (108), Akron (114), Illinois State (150), Michigan State (157), Wisconsin (190) and Creighton (220).
