Deutsch Closes 2011 Season at NCAA Regional -
Senior Hannah Deutsch represented Illinois State at the NCAA Norman Regional hosted by the University of Oklahoma Saturday afternoon. Deutsch took 15th place on the balance beam with a score of 9.775.
Head coach Bob Conkling was pleased with Deutsch's final performance.
"She did well under pressure," Conkling said. "She has a really nice routine, so I'm proud of her."
This was the second appearance for Deutsch in regional competition, with a 39th place performance last year on the balance beam.
Deutsch was pleased with her last performance as a Redbird
"I feel good about my performance," Deutsch said. "I could have done better but it was a good routine for my last one. "
This was the last meet for the senior who is still getting over the shock of completing her senior campaign.
"It hasn't quite hit me yet that my senior year is over," Deutsch said. "We had a lot of injuries this season but I'm just glad to go out on a high note."
Oklahoma took first place in the team competition with a score of 197.350, followed by Utah (196.475), Washington (195.300), North Carolina (195.225), New Hampshire (194.500) and Missouri (194.175).
