Promotional Events Planned for ISU Softball's Final Homestand

April 25, 2011

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State softball team will host Southern Illinois Saturday and Sunday for the "Final Home Series of 2011," at Marian Kneer Stadium, as several marketing events are planned to add to the atmosphere. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to begin at noon, while Sunday's single game will also have a noon start.

For Saturday's doubleheader, ISU Athletics will host "Youth Softball Day" at Marian Kneer Stadium. Any youth softball player wearing their team uniform will receive free admission. In addition, after the second game, all the kids in attendance will be invited on the field to "run the bases."

Sunday will have a trio of promotions with "Senior Day," "Fan Appreciation Day" and "Sunday Sundae." Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Redbirds for this final home game, especially the four seniors - Chrissy Burton, Kara Nelson, Abby Olson and Jessica Roche.

In addition to honoring the senior class, ISU Athletics will also say "thank you" to its fans. As part of "Fan Appreciation Day," everyone in attendance will receive a raffle ticket as they enter the stadium. Prizes from ISU Athletics sponsors will be raffled off throughout the game to show the department's appreciation for the fans' support.

As the final "Sunday Sundae" at Marian Kneer Stadium for the 2011 season, patrons will be able to purchase an ice cream sundae in a mini keepsake Illinois State batting helmet. Kids in attendance for Sunday's game will also be invited on the field after the game to "run the bases."
