NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State head basketball coach Tim Jankovich confirmed that the Redbird career of Kenyon Smith has come to an end, as the junior has opted to transfer to NCAA Division II Southern Indiana.
"Kenyon was nothing but a joy to coach," Jankovich said. "He is very competitive and feels like he wants a bigger role than he had here. I completely understand and totally respect his decision. I will miss him very much. He was a tremendous teammate and did everything we asked him to do. I wish him nothing but the best."
Smith battled multiple injuries throughout the 2010-11 campaign at Illinois State, after transferring in from Lincoln (Ill.) Community College. He played in 13 games, all as a reserve, averaging 0.8 points and 7.7 minutes per game.
