NORMAL, Ill. -
Megan Thompson was officially named the strategic communication director Friday, according to Illinois State Associate Athletics Director for Athletics Communications Todd Kober.
Thompson spent the last two years in the athletics communications office working as a graduate assistant. She oversaw the video streaming production for nine Redbird sports, while also shooting, producing and editing feature video content for GoRedbirds.com, the department's official website.
"Megan has really evolved professionally during her time in our office," Kober said. "She has proven time and time again her ability to manage large projects, while also accomplishing established goals and meeting deadlines. I'm looking forward to the progress she makes with her new responsibilities as Illinois State Athletics continues to progress with modern technologies."
In her new role, Thompson will oversee and manage all the content on GoRedbirds.com, along with coordinating Redbird Athletics social media efforts through the department's official Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts.
Thompson, a native of Joliet, Ill., earned her bachelor's degree in public relations from Illinois State University in May of 2009, and earned her master's degree in communications at ISU in May. As a senior undergraduate student, Thompson served as a marketing assistant intern in the athletics marketing and promotions department.
Prior to coming to Illinois State, Thompson was a member of the Arkansas track and field team and competed in the 100-meter high hurdles. She transferred to Illinois State in 2007, and ran for the Illinois State track and field team for two seasons.
