NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State head women's basketball coach Stephanie Glance added Ryan Bragdon to her staff Wednesday as an assistant coach.
"We are excited to have Ryan and his family join our program," Glance said. "Ryan brings 10 years of coaching experience at the Division I level. His character and integrity are unmatched, and his ability to contribute in many areas of our program will be seen immediately. He is a great fit for our Redbird family."
Bragdon has spent 13 years in women's basketball and brings a vast amount of knowledge to the Redbird program.
"Over the years, I have worked for some amazing coaches and learned a lot, while growing a lot in the profession," Bragdon said. "That has to do with who I have worked with, most recently being with Semeka Randall at Ohio. I am looking forward to the newest opportunity of working with Coach Glance and the staff she has put together. It is a great opportunity and I am excited to become part of the Redbird family."
Bragdon spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Ohio, helping coach four All-Mid-American Conference selections and a Girls Basketball Report Top-60 recruiting class, including a 2011 Parade All-American.
Prior to his stint at Ohio, Bragdon spent seven seasons at Western Michigan as an assistant coach, helping lead WMU to a Mid-American Conference Tournament championship, a NCAA Tournament appearance and a WNIT quarterfinal appearance, while coaching four Kodak Regional All-Americans and Carrie Moore, the nation's scoring champion.
Bradgon also spent a season in the WNBA as an equipment manager for the Seattle Storm after serving as an undergraduate manager at Washington for three seasons. Bragdon earned his bachelor's degree in English from Washington in 2001.
Bragdon has experience teaching post players, while coaching individual skills development. He also has experience in opponent scouting and game strategy, and evaluating talent in recruiting prospective student-athletes.
Bragdon will fill the position left by Travis Cantrell, who returned to his previous position at Floyd County High School.
