For the third-straight year, Illinois State football and men's basketball game broadcasts will be available on the Decatur airwaves, as Redbird Athletics and WDZ-AM 1050 "The Fan" signed a partnership continuing the Neuhoff Media station as an affiliate of the Redbird Radio Network.
"Mark Hanson and the rest of the WDZ staff have really been a pleasure to work with over the last two years and we are looking forward to continuing the Illinois State presence in the Decatur area," ," Illinois State Associate Athletics Director for Athletics Communications Todd Kober said. "We have a number of alumni and fans in the Decatur area and our presence on `The Fan' helps secure our coverage strength in the Central Illinois market."
WDZ will carry select Illinois State football games and the majority of the Redbird men's basketball season. A final broadcast schedule will be issued at a later date.
"We are very excited to again, this year, to partner with the Illinois State Redbird Radio Network," Hanson said. "I think it's important as a branded sports station in Central Illinois that we give our audience a well-balanced array of college games in our area and the addition of the Illinois State Redbird football and basketball does just that."
Other Redbird Radio Network stations include WJBC-AM 1230, FM 93.7 in Bloomington (flagship), WFMB-AM 1450 in Springfield and WZPN 96.5 FM ESPN in Peoria, while negotiations with other stations throughout the state are ongoing.
