Peoria's 96.5 ESPN Returns to the Redbird Radio Network

Aug. 12, 2011

NORMAL, Ill. - Both Illinois State football and men's basketball radio broadcasts will play in Peoria, Ill., as the ISU Athletics Department reached an agreement with Advanced Media Partners, LLC, and WZPN 96.5 FM ESPN to carry Redbird games this season.

"We are ecstatic to have 96.5 ESPN return to the Redbird Radio Network this season," Illinois State Associate Athletics Director for Athletics Communications Todd Kober said. "We are also pleased that WZPN will be carrying Illinois State football during the fall. We have enjoyed building a relationship with Advanced Media Partners, LLC, and are looking forward to long-term partnership."

WZPN 96.5 ESPN will carry select Illinois State football and men's basketball games during the 2011-12 season. A final broadcast schedule will be issued at a later date.

"This partnership allows us to build on the already solid ESPN coverage of college athletics on a national level with continued and expanded coverage of an exciting Central Illinois team," said Scott Hecathorn, the operations manager of Advanced Media Partners, LLC. "The arrangement last year was both beneficial and successful, and 96.5 ESPN Radio is excited about bringing Illinois State Athletics to the large number of Redbird alumni in the Peoria area."

Other Redbird Radio Network stations include WJBC-AM 1230 and FM 93.7 in Bloomington (flagship), WFMB-AM 1450 in Springfield and WDZ-AM 1050 in Decatur, while negotiations with other stations throughout the state are ongoing.
