2011-12 Schedule

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State women's golf team will compete against some of the nation's top teams during the 2011-12 season, as announced by head coach Darby Sligh. During the upcoming season, the Redbirds will compete in five fall tournaments before jumping into the competitive spring season with six tournaments.

"This is another exciting schedule for us," Sligh said. "It's been great to be able to start our year off at home with so much support. I think this schedule will allow us the opportunity to set ourselves up for national success."

The Redbirds will open the 2011 fall schedule, Sept. 10-11, at home with the Redbird Invitational, which will be held at the Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University. The next stop for ISU will be at the Badger Invitational (Sept. 25-26), hosted by Wisconsin on the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis. From there, the Redbirds will travel to Columbia, Mo., to compete in the Johnie Imes Invitational (Oct. 3-4) at The Club at Old Hawthorne, which is being hosted by Missouri.

ISU will get two weeks off before participating in Indiana's Hoosier Invitational (Oct. 17-18) in Carmel, Ind., at the Crooked Stick Golf Club. The Redbirds will wrap up the fall season Oct. 24-25 at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by the College of Charleston in Kiawah Island, S.C., at the Oak Point Golf Club.

After a three month break from competition, ISU will head south to compete in the Illinois Challenge (Jan. 28) with Illinois in Boca Raton, Fla., on the Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club. A month later, the Redbirds will head back to Kiawah Island, S.C., and the Oak Point Country Club for the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate (Feb. 26-28), also hosted by the College of Charleston. Then, ISU will travel to Florida for the second time to compete in the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational (March 11-13) hosted by James Madison at the Eagle Landing Golf Club in Orange Park, Fla.

The Redbirds will move their spring season from the east coast to the west coast, as ISU competes in the Del Monte Invitational at Monterey Bay (March 18-20) at the Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey, Calif. The tournament is being hosted by Missouri Valley Conference rivals Drake and Missouri State.

Illinois State will have nearly a month off, before heading to the Indiana Invitational (April 14-15) in Bloomington, Ind., at the Indiana University Golf Course. On April 22-24, the Redbirds will compete in the 2012 State Farm MVC Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., to complete the regular season.
