Four NCAA Teams Highlight 2011-12 Non-Conference Slate

Aug. 5, 2011

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State men's basketball fans will have plenty of opportunities to watch the 2011-12 ISU team, which features seven newcomers, as the Redbirds will have a minimum of 18 home dates this season, including an exhibition game.

Despite the official release of the non-conference schedule, head coach Tim Jankovich noted that the Redbirds are still seeking one additional non-conference opponent to complete the slate, on or around a Dec. 10 date.

Online season ticket renewals are currently underway on GoRedbirds.com and paper renewals will be sent out during the week of Aug. 8, with a renewal deadline of Sept. 2. All season ticket renewals that are purchased online will be eligible to win $200 in a drawing, with the winner to be announced Sept. 6. New season ticket orders can be ordered online, by calling the Illinois State Athletics Ticket Office at (309) 438-8000, or in person beginning Aug. 15. Single-game tickets will be available for purchase on Oct. 24.

Following the Nov. 6 exhibition game against Quincy on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena, ISU will open the 2011-12 campaign on Friday, Nov. 11, against Fresno State at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif. This is the third date this game has been scheduled for.

The Redbirds will return home to open the 2011 Cancun Challenge with two-straight home games. Illinois State will host Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Nov. 17 and Lipscomb on Nov. 19.

ISU will continue the Cancun Challenge on Nov. 22 and 23, at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico. The Redbirds will play their opening game against Rutgers, before facing Illinois or Richmond in the second contest.

Illinois State returns to Redbird Arena for three-straight contests, hosting Bethune Cookman (Nov. 27), Chicago State (Nov. 30) and UNC Wilmington (Dec. 3). On Dec. 7, the Redbirds will make their return trip to Morehead State, after hosting the Eagles in 2010 as part of the ESPNU BracketBusters event.

ISU will also have back-to-back home dates later in December, as the Redbirds will host Norfolk State (Dec. 18) and Arkansas-Little Rock (Dec. 20). Illinois State will serve as a host school for the 2012 ESPNU BracketBusters event in February.

Arkansas-Little Rock, Morehead State, Illinois and Richmond each participated in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, while the Redbirds will also host Missouri Valley Conference representative Indiana State as part of the league's regular-season schedule.

The Missouri Valley Conference games with home dates against Bradley, Creighton, Drake, Evansville, Indiana State, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois and Wichita State will be announced at a later date with the entire conference schedule is announced by the league office.
