NORMAL, Ill. -
The Illinois State volleyball team tied its team best 3.53 team grade-point average (GPA) in the fall semester. The Redbird accomplishment equaled the team GPA record from the fall of 2009. Five student-athletes recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs, including three Redbirds who've maintained a perfect cumulative 4.0 grade-point average.
"As a team, we stress the importance of prioritizing academics and time management," said head coach Melissa Myers. "We want our student-athletes to be well rounded and successful in the classroom and on the court. I'm proud of the team's performance this fall and look forward to their continual academic success."
The athletic department also posted a 3.15 GPA in the Fall 2011 semester, besting the previous record of 3.13 from the Spring 2009 semester. The department set another record with 74 student-athletes achieving a 4.0 GPA for the semester, crushing the previous record of 64 from the Spring 2011 semester. The AFNI Athletics Honor Roll consisted of 261 student-athletes.
