Senior Brittany Tazzioli earned the Missouri Valley Conference title Diver of the Week for the fifth time this season, after contributing to the Redbirds' 179-115 victory over conference opponent Northern Iowa, Saturday at home in Horton Pool.
The Libertyville Ill., native used a first-place finish on the 1-meter board with a score of 282.83 to put up points for Illinois State. Her score marks a NCAA zone regional qualifying score, which she has achieved four times this season. Tazzioli also hit a qualifying score on the 3-meter board with a 280.65.
The competition was Senior Night for the Redbirds, as well as the last dual meet before the Missouri Valley Conference Championships Feb. 16-18.
Tazzioli is also coming off a successful performance two weeks ago that also earned her the MVC Diver of the Week honor, after the UIC Diving Invite, where she broke a 12-year-old school record on the 1-meter diving board.
