COLUMBIA, Mo. - Senior Katie Jeancontinues her stellar season by finishing in the top-10 for the fourth-consecutive tournament, as she led the Illinois State women's golf team in three rounds of play Tuesday in Columbia, Mo., at the Johnnie Imes Invitational. Jean finished in 10th with a 4-over-par performance 220 (73-73-74) at the 6,234-yard, par-72 Old Hawthorne Course.
The Redbirds completed the two-day invitational tied for 10th place with a team score of 916 (302-306-308). Southern Methodist won the tournament with a team score of 876.
Head Coach Darby Slighis pleased with her team's progress.
"It's been a while since we have been able to put together three-rounds under 310, so this is a break through for us," Sligh said. "Katie had yet another solid finish and Courtnee (Cossell) had a break out round as a freshman. We need to take these positives into Indiana, as we finish out our fall season. I'm excited about our progress this week."
Junior Rachel Powersalso contributed a noteworthy performance. Powers finished within one stroke of Jean, shooting a three-round score of 221 (69-74-78), finishing tied for 13th place on the individual leaderboard.
Rounding out the Redbird lineup was sophomore Hayley Guyton with a score of 237 (80-78-79), followed by junior Jordyn Wyzgowski with a score of 247 (86-81-80) and freshman Courtnee Cossellwith a break-out performance score of 241 (80-84-77).
The Redbirds will be back in action Saturday, October 13 at the Hoosier Fall Invitational in Florence, Ind.
