Illinois State at Southern Illinois to Air on ESPNU

Dec. 20, 2012

ST. LOUIS - Illinois State fans will have another chance to watch the Redbird men's basketball team play on national television. ESPN notified the Missouri Valley Conference that the ISU at SIU game will air on ESPNU Sunday, January 20, at 7 p.m., Commissioner Doug Elgin announced Thursday.

The Redbirds are appearing on television at least 13 times this season, including at least nine times on the ESPN family of networks. ISU can be seen next on ESPN3, along with Comcast SportsNet Chicago and Fox Sports Net, during Illinois State's Missouri Valley Conference home-opener against No. 17 Creighton.

As part of its agreement with the Missouri Valley Conference, ESPN has selected four weekends during the 2012-13 season to utilize the "Wildcard" selection process to determine league men's basketball games for its networks.

On three different dates in 2012-13 -- January 20 and 27 and February 10 -- ESPN will decide between a pair of games to televise on ESPNU and ESPN3, respectively.

On January 20, Illinois State will travel to the SIU Arena, to meet Southern Illinois in an ESPNU telecast.

On that same date, ESPN3 will televise the Drake at UNI contest at 2 p.m. from the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Earlier this month, ESPN utilized the "Wildcard" selection process to select the Creighton at Southern Illinois game for ESPNU and the Drake at Missouri State contest for ESPN3 on January 27.

ESPN will also use the "Wildcard" selection process to determine men's basketball games for airing on ESPNU and ESPN3 on February 10 (UNI at Bradley or Drake at Evansville) and on ESPN2 on March 2.

Illinois State plays its final non-conference home game, this Saturday, Dec. 22, versus Austin Peay, before the Redbirds begin Missouri Valley Conference play at Indiana State on Dec. 30.
