NORMAL, Ill. - Redbird Arena will once again be rocking, when Illinois State hosts No. 17/13 Creighton, Jan. 2 at 7 p.m., as the “country rockin’” band Brushfire will return for a third-straight season to provide in-game entertainment for “Rock the Arena.”
Brushfire is fresh off their victory at the Battle for the Saddle competition at the legendary Nashville, Tenn., Wildhorse Saloon in 2012. Out of the over 300 national bands, Brushfire was selected the winner by a panel of top-music industry professionals. The band has also played shows with popular performers such as Lady Antebellum, Alan Jackson, The Band Perry and many others.
One of the bands lead singers, Brett Gillan, is a former ISU basketball letterwinner (2000-03) and loves returning to the arena to provide entertainment for the fans.
"We love performing at Redbird Arena," said Gillan. "It’s become a bit of a tradition for our band. The team is off to a great start this season under Coach Dan Muller. We’re looking forward to a big game against Creighton and being able to do our part to add some energy to the atmosphere."
