The Illinois State women's basketball team will head to St. Charles, Mo., March 8-11, for the 2012 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship at the Family Arena. To celebrate that weekend, Illinois State athletics will host its annual `Redbird Rally' at the Sheraton Lakeside Chalet prior to the Redbirds' first game Friday.
The event will take place at the Lucerne Lounge inside the Sheraton Lakeside Chalet prior to the Redbirds' first game of the tournament. There is no cost to attend the event and food may be purchased at the Lucerne Lounge. Two complimentary drink tickets per hotel room will be provided to fans staying at the Sheraton Lakeside Chalet.
"We are excited to host our annual pre-game event at the Lucerne Lounge inside the Sheraton Lakeside Chalet," ISU Assistant Athletics Director for Development Matt Lyons said. "The Sheraton Plaza provides an exciting atmosphere, because the teams and fans are in such close proximity. The `Redbird Rally' provides a great stage to get Redbird fans together and energized before sending the team off to their first game of the tournament. We are looking forward to another exciting weekend in St. Charles."
The Sheraton Lakeside Chalet, the official home for Illinois State during the tournament, will also be the site of team send-offs and welcome-backs. Fans are encouraged to meet in the lobby approximately 30 minutes after the game is completed to welcome back the team. The remaining team send-offs and welcome back events will be contingent on the team's advancement in the tournament.

Fans that cannot make it St. Louis or St. Charles will now be able to receive men's and women's basketball State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament updates directly to their mobile device, via a text message sent directly from ISU Athletics.
By texting "MVC" to 71857, fans will receive tournament updates directly from Illinois State Athletics, covering both the men's and women's teams. Updates will include scores, event information and other important updates as it develops throughout each tournament. For assistance, fans can text "HELP MVC" to 71857, or to opt out of the service, fans can text "STOP MVC" to 71857.
