Men's Golf to Compete in UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic

March 25, 2012

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men’s golf team will compete in the 17-team UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic Monday and Tuesday at the Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Ark.

Head men’s golf coach Ray Kralis looks forward to seeing how his team will match up against the competition.

“We have taken steps in the right direction and will look to build on the momentum we created at the Jackrabbit Invitational,” Kralis said. “While the course presents a tough test with a competitive 17-team field, I know our guys are ready for the challenge. As always we have to be mentally superb and play with commitment and trust in ourselves.”

Playing for the Redbirds will be senior Eric Meier, juniors Ricky Hearden and Matt Solis, and sophomores Wils Hawn and Parker Freiburg.

Competing schools include Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Belmont, Bowling Green, Columbia, Eastern Michigan, Louisiana-Monroe, Missouri-Kansas City, Missouri State, Oral Roberts, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin, UALR, Weber State and Western Kentucky

The first round will begin Monday with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
