Redbird Baseball and Softball Hold Sports Gear Drive

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball and softball teams will hold a sports gear drive at each of their games on Sunday, March 25, at Duffy Bass Field and Marian Kneer Softball Stadium. All items will be donated to Leadership McLean County, a part of the Chamber of Commerce.

Fans can enjoy free admission to both games and our encouraged to donate new or gently used sports gear items, for all sports, to benefit children in need. Examples include shoes, balls, gloves, etc. Boxes will be placed at entrances of each facility for fans to place their items into.

Leadership McLean County is collecting donated sporting good equipment to provide to local non-for-profit agencies and schools who are in need of equipment due to funding cuts. Such schools and non-for-profit agencies receiving donations include Hammitt School, the Boys & Girls Club, Western Avenue Center and the YMCA.

Redbird softball will host Wichita State in game three of the weekend series at noon, while Redbird baseball will host Webster at 1 p.m.
