NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women’s golf team has been picked to finish in fourth at the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Championship in a pre-championship poll of league coaches, as announced by the league office Wednesday.
Missouri State was the unanimous selection by coaches to win the tournament. This marks the second-consecutive year in which the Bears have been chosen to win the championship.
The Redbirds are entering the championship looking for an unprecedented fifth-consecutive victory. Illinois State received a tally of 72 points in the poll. Polling in second and third place respectively, Wichita State and Southern Illinois received counts of 79 and 78. With 67 points, Northern Iowa rounds out the top-five selections.
The 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Championship will be hosted by Indiana State, and will take place April 22-24 in Terre Haute, Ind.
