NORMAL, Ill. -
The Illinois State men's tennis team is set to host its last home match of the season Friday against Bradley at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts in Normal, Ill. at 1 p.m. The Redbirds will take on Southern Illinois Sunday at 11 a.m. for their final dual match of the season in Carbondale, Ill.
"Our main focus right now is to try to get as healthy as we can which will help," said head coach Cris James. "When it comes to the weekend the biggest thing is for us to go out and compete as hard as we can."
The `Birds have faced strong competition all year and Bradley and Southern Illinois are sure to be no exception.
"Bradley and Southern Illinois have been a little weaker than Drake or Wichita State this year," said James. "Both of them have talent and ability and we need to come out and play well."
Illinois State will go into this weekend's competition with a conference record of 1-2.
"We are a bit disappointed with our standing in the conference," said James. "At this point, though, it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is the next match and we still can get redemption in the conference tournament. If we end the season well then none of the rest of it will matter and so that has to be our focus for the rest of the season."
