After winning Tuesday's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship opener against No. 5 Evansville, 10-3, the Illinois State baseball team advances in the winner's bracket to play No. 8 Creighton Wednesday at 4:07 p.m. at Hammons Field.
Eric Aguilera went 3-for-5 with three doubles and two RBI to lead Illinois State to the game one win. Meanwhile, Creighton upset No. 1 Indiana State in the opening round of the tournament, as Bluejay pitcher Ty Blach threw a complete game, one-hitter in the win, just the second complete game one-hitter in MVC Tournament history. Illinois State will start freshman left-hander Dylan Craig (8-3, 4.46 ERA) against Creighton senior right-hander Shane Liska (1-4, 3.56 ERA). Craig threw a complete game four-hitter, allowing two earned runs while striking out four batters earlier this year against Creighton, while Liska did not face the Redbirds.
