NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State Associate Athletic Director for Communications Todd Kober announced the hiring of Ronan O'Shea and Casey Richardsas graduate assistants in the Redbird Athletics Communications office Tuesday.
"We are pleased to have Casey and Ronan join the communications office," Kober said. "They both have an exceptionally strong multimedia background, and I expect them to each leave their mark in the department over their two-year term. Former graduate assistants John Twork and Dustin Hallestablished a solid foundation to our commitment to audio streaming and radio production, and I'm anxious to see where Ronan and Casey elevate this initiative, while establishing new ones. We are excited to have them as part of the team."
O'Shea received his undergraduate degree from Indiana in sport broadcasting with a certificate in journalism. At Indiana, the Chicago, Ill., native covered football and men's basketball as the sports director of Indiana University Student Television. Prior to joining ISU, O'Shea was the multimedia coordinator and play-by-play announcer for the athletic department at South Florida.
O'Shea will be the main contact for baseball and secondary media contact for football during his graduate assistant career, while working towards a Master's degree in sport management.
Richards previously spent a year working at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis as a postgraduate intern in the digital communications department. He completed his undergraduate education at Indiana in May of 2011, majoring in sport communication-broadcast with a minor in business. During his four years there, the Granger, Ind., native also worked for Indiana University Student Television, eventually becoming Sports Director. Richards also completed summer internships with the South Bend Silver Hawks and WNDU-TV in South Bend, Ind.
Richards will be the primary contact for Redbird soccer and softball, while pursuing a Master's degree in sport management.
