Peoria's 96.5 ESPN Signs Two-Year Deal with ISU Athletics

July 18, 2012

NORMAL, Ill. - Both Illinois State football and men's basketball radio broadcasts will continue to play in Peoria, Ill., as the ISU Athletics Department finalized a two-year agreement with Advanced Media Partners, LLC, and WZPN 96.5 FM ESPN to carry Redbird games for both the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons.

"We value our relationship with 96.5 ESPN Peoria, as well as the platform and coverage they provide for promoting our athletics department," Illinois State Associate Athletics Director for Communications Todd Kober said. "We are both looking to expand our partnership and have already teamed together for the Redbird Road Trip event in East Peoria last month. Illinois State University has a number of alumni and fans in the Peoria area and ESPN Peoria helps us strengthen those relationships."

WZPN 96.5 ESPN will carry select Illinois State football and men's basketball games during the 2012-13 season. A final broadcast schedule will be issued at a later date.

"We are extremely pleased to again be the Peoria radio home for ISU football and basketball," said Scott Hecathorn, the operations manager of Advanced Media Partners, LLC. "Their continued emergence as a force in both the conference and the national college athletics landscape make this an exciting time to root for the Redbirds and 96.5 ESPN Radio is looking forward to bringing all their wins to the large number of alumni in Peoria for at least the next two seasons!"

Other stations on the Illinois State Sports Network include WJBC-AM 1230 and FM 93.7 in Bloomington (flagship), WFMB-AM 1450 in Springfield, WDZ-AM 1050 in Decatur, WJEZ-FM 98.9 in Dwight and WVON-AM 1690 in Chicago. Negotiations with other stations throughout the state are ongoing.
