Men's Golf Releases 2012-13 Schedule

2012-13 Men's Golf Schedule

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's golf team will compete in 13 tournaments during the 2012-13 season, as announced by head coach Ray Kralis. The Redbirds will participate in six tournaments during the fall season, followed by seven tournaments during the spring.

"Our 2012-13 schedule and the quality of talent we face will test us from start to finish, and we will have great opportunities through the season to see how we stack up nationally, regionally and inside of the Missouri Valley Conference," Kralis said. "It will be easy to stay motivated throughout the year with a great spring schedule."

The Redbirds will begin their 2012 fall season at Nebraska, where they will compete at the Fairway Club Invitational from Sept. 10-11, in Nebraska City, Neb. ISU will then head to Fort Collins, Colo., to compete in the Ram Masters Invitational (Sept. 17-18), hosted by Colorado State. The Redbirds will then take home field advantage, as they host the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate Tournament (Sept.22-23) in Normal, Ill.

ISU will have two weeks off before heading to Akron to compete in the Firestone Invitational (Oct. 8-9). Next, the Redbirds will head to San Antonio, Texas, to compete in the Lone Star Invitational, October 14-16. Illinois State will go south to Arkansas State for the Red Wolves Fall Beach Classic (Nov. 5-6), where it will finish out the 2012 fall season.

After a two month break of competitition, the start of the 2013 spring season will begin in Placida, Fla., where ISU will compete against, in-state rival Illinois at the Tinervin Cup Tournament (Jan. 26). Three weeks later, the Redbirds will head back south to Mobile, Ala., as they compete in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate Tournament (Feb. 18-19), hosted by South Alabama. Then, ISU will travel to Primm, Nev., as they compete in the Jackrabbit Invitational (March 11-12), hosted by South Dakota State.

ISU will have three weeks off of competition before heading to Jonesboro, Ark., to participate in the Red Wolves Intercollegiate Tournament (April 1-2). A few days later, the Redbirds will travel east to Indiana to compete in the Hoosier Invitational (April 6-7) in Bloomington, Ind. ISU will compete in their final match, before the Valley Championship, at the Northwestern Spring Invitational in Glenview, Ill. The Redbirds will complete their 2012-13 season in Cape Girardeau, Mo., as they compete for the MVC Championship on April 29-30.
