Two New Players Join the Redbird Men's Tennis team

Sept. 10, 2012

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's tennis head coach Cris James has welcomed two new players onto his roster for the 2012-13 season, with the additions of Erik Brunskog (Linkoping, Sweden) and Michael Sellitto (Glenview, Ill) Monday.

Brunskog, a junior from Linkoping, Sweden, will bring his extensive tennis experience to the Redbirds. Brunskog is a transfer from Central Florida where he competed for two seasons. While at UCF, he achieved success including five dual-match victories in the 2011 spring season, and several starts at the No. 1 singles position.

"Erik adds some good experience coming in as a junior transfer," James said. "He has already shown that he can compete at a very high level in college tennis."

Sellitto, a freshmen from Glenview, Ill., will also join the Redbirds this season. Sellitto played varsity tennis for four years and was named all-conference each of those years at Glenbrook South High School. He went 40-3 his senior year and set a record for most wins all-time.

"Michael brings great enthusiasm and team spirit and has a pretty complete skill set, which should give him a chance to contribute for us right away in singles and doubles," James said.

The duo joins returning players Jacob Wilson, Alexander Pelaez and Muddappa Appanervanda on the Redbird roster. ISU kicks of its season, September 14-16, at the Western Michigan Invite in Kalamazoo, Mich.
