Get Social This Fall Season With ISU's Social Media Campaign

NORMAL, Ill. - With the Illinois State men’s and women’s basketball schedules being released last week, ISU Athletics decided it was time to launch its social media campaign for the fall season, focusing on getting Redbird fans more connected to their Redbirds.

Over the past year, Illinois State Athletics has made a strong effort to increase its social media presence through the development of a strategy designed to promote its student-athletes and their accomplishments, and engage its fans with the goal of building a long-lasting connection to ISU.

Building off the success its six social media outlets have seen (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Foursquare, Pinterest), a fall campaign has been designed to complement in-depth game coverage and behind-the-scenes access already provided.

Monday: Show Your Pride
Every Monday, fans are encouraged to post photos on Instagram including ISUgetsocial or ISUATH showing their @ISURedbirds pride.

Tuesday: Twitter Tuesday’s
Since there’s so much Twitter can be used for, we decided to make Tuesday all about Twitter. Content will vary from more Twitter chats, trivia questions, photo challenges and retweet contests. For photo challenges, fans will be asked to tweet photos of a chosen topic by ISU Athletics, and the photo that captures the topic best will win a prize. Retweet contests are simple, all fans have to do is retweet a specific tweet from @ISURedbirds for a chance to win a prize.

Wednesday: Caption Contest
Since this contest has remained the most popular amongst Illinois State’s Facebook fans, we’ve decided to keep it around. Every Wednesday afternoon around 4 p.m., a photo will be posted of a Redbird student-athlete where fans can post what they think the caption should be. The best caption selected by ISU will win a prize.

Thursday: #ThrowbackThursdays
Thursday’s will be the day where ISU’s history is displayed on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Keep a look out for classic Redbird photos.

Friday: Share To Win
Celebrate the end of the week with ISU’s “Share to Win” challenge. Every Friday, content will be posted on the Illinois State Athletics Facebook fan page marked as the Share to Win post of the day. Every fans who shares this post on their personal page will be entered into a monthly drawing to win free tickets to Redbird games. Two tickets will be given to one winner at the end of each month from now through December.

Also, keep a look out for Foursquare specials for checking in at Illinois State athletic facilities during ISU events and the newest Redbird social media outlet, Storify. You can find the ‘Birds on both websites under ISURedbirds.

Something new the Redbirds will be hosting this season at a men’s basketball game, is its first ever Social Media Night. Details for this event and the selected game will be announced at a later date. Check GoRedbirds.com for information as the season gets closer to starting.
