Jacob Wilson earned a singles title, and Muddappa Appanervanda and Rodrigo Oliveira won a doubles championship, as the Illinois State men's tennis team completed the third and final day of the Ball State Invite.
Wilson defeated Ray Leonard of Ball State in three sets, 6-7(3), 6-2, 1-0 (3). Appanervanda and Oliveira beat Paul John and David Vierya of Depaul, 8-4.
Head coach Mark Klysner thought his team team played well all weekend at the Ball State Invite.
"The guys came out with high energy and intensity today," Klysner said. "Jacob fought hard to come back to win, and Mudduappa and Rodrigo beat a very good Depaul team."
Appanervanda lost to Nick Dykema of Marquette in the final round of the Flight B bracket in three sets, 7-6(3), 3-6, 1-0(8).
The Redbirds will travel to Columbus, Ohio, Oct. 17-21, for the ITA Midwest Regional Championships.
