NORMAL, Ill. - What better way to prepare young softball players for future play than watching collegiate student-athletes compete in person, which is why the Illinois State softball team is holding a Youth Softball Day this Saturday, March 30, as the ‘Birds take on Southern Illinois for a double-header at Marian Kneer Softball Stadium. The first game is slated to begin at noon.
Youth softball players are invited to come out to the games wearing their team’s jersey or official T-shirt. All other fans in attendance are encouraged to wear red, as ISU softball would like to “Red Out” the Salukis as the team opens its home play after a two-week delay due to inclement weather.
Don’t forget, every time an Illinois State pitcher records a strikeout, the ISU Athletics staff will toss a free T-shirt into the stands, so there is always a chance to go home with a prize.
Admission is free for the entire regular season at Marian Kneer Softball Stadium. For more information about Redbird softball, please visit GoRedbirds.com and click on softball.
