ISU Student-Athletes Present the First-Annual `Hardly Normal' Talent Show

April 1, 2013

NORMAL, Ill. - On Thursday, the Illinois State Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) will host the first-annual `Hardly Normal' SAAC Talent Show at Redbird Arena, beginning at 7 p.m. Admission to the event is free, while donations will be accepted and will benefit The Baby Fold.

The two-hour event will include an act from every Redbird team, except baseball due to schedule conflicts. The skits will be judged by a panel made up of Julie Payne, a representative from The Baby Fold, former Redbird football player Boomer Grigsby, Dean Janet Krejci from the Mennonite College of Nursing, NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Jeri Beggs, Aaron Von Qualen, the student representative on the University Board of Trustees, and student senator Natalie Richardson. If coaches participate in the skit, a team will be given five additional points to its total.

The donations for the event will benefit The Baby Fold in Normal, Ill. The Baby Fold was born out of one woman's desire to care for others and originally started in 1902 by Nancy Mason. The faith-based orphanage for infants and young children has grown in to a multi-service agency, specializing in the care of today's most vulnerable children. They focus on improving the lives of children and families by building safe, loving, healthy environments through adoption services, foster care, residential care, special education and family and community services.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and concession stands will be open during the talent show. Come out and cheer on the Redbird student-athletes, as they raise awareness for a great cause.
