CHICAGO - Jackie Carmichael took another step toward fulfilling his NBA dream after participating in the NBA Draft Combine Thursday and Friday at Quest Multisport Chicago. The former Illinois State forward was one of nearly 60 top-prospects invited to the combine.

With NBA general managers, head coaches and scouts observing from the sidelines, Carmichael took part in drills and measurements Thursday, before undergoing athletic and strength testing Friday.

"I feel like I have a chip on my shoulder," Carmichael told the media after Thursday's combine. "I do have something to prove to all of these teams."

ESPN NBA Insider Chad Ford ranks Carmichael as the 48th-best pick and the fifth-best power forward in the 2013 NBA Draft, which will take place June 27 in Brooklyn, N.Y., live on ESPN. Carmichael, who led the Missouri Valley Conference in rebounding and blocked shots, has no preference when it comes to who he will be playing for next season.

"Any team," Carmichael said. "Any team that thinks I'd be good for their program and for their franchise - that would be awesome."

Rico Hill was the last Redbird to get drafted, as he was selected in 1999 by the Los Angeles Clippers as the 31st pick in the second round.
