NORMAL, Ill. -
Scott Renfro, who spent nearly the last four years at Northern Arizona, has been added to the Illinois State athletics department staff as Assistant Athletics Director of Compliance, as announced by Cindy Harris, Illinois State's senior associate athletic director for compliance and student services Friday.
"We are extremely pleased to have Scott join the Illinois State family," Harris said. "He brings tremendous experience with six years in the compliance profession, including the last four at an institution with FCS football. I am confident he will bring some new and creative ideas to our compliance unit, and his work ethic and professionalism will be welcomed by our Redbird coaches and student-athletes alike."
During his time at Northern Arizona, Renfro served as the institution's senior compliance staff member and assisted coaches with interpretation of NCAA rules on a daily-basis. He oversaw all student-athlete eligibility certifications, including initial, continuing and transfer eligibility. Renfro generated NCAA secondary violation reports and waiver requests for submission to the NCAA and Big Sky Conference office and prepared NCAA rules education materials for NAU coaches and administrative staff. Renfro also served as the department liaison to NAU's Financial Aid and Housing and Dining Offices.
Renfro, who starts work as a Redbird June 3, is excited for the new opportunity.
"It is a privilege to join the staff at Illinois State," Renfro said. "The department has a commitment to success both on the field and in the classroom. I cannot wait to arrive on campus and begin working with the talented coaches, administrators and student-athletes."
Renfro also has experience as a graduate assistant in the athletic compliance office at Miami (Ohio).
