Men's Golf Travels to Badger Invitational

Sept. 27, 2013

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's golf team will head north to compete in the Badger Invitational at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis., hosted by Wisconsin. The three-day tournament will have one, 18-hole, round per day on the par-72, 7,259-yard course. There will be a 9 a.m., tee time on Sunday and Monday, while Tuesday will begin with a 9:30 a.m., shotgun start.

After an 11th place finish at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, head coach Ray Kralis is looking forward to seeing the team's hard work and learning experiences be applied at the Badger Invitational.

"After a tough outing last week, the quick turnaround is a welcome opportunity," Kralis said. "At Wolf Run, we learned some lessons the hard way on day one and responded by making strides in the final round. We have continued to make progress this week in our preparation, and I expect us to do a better job of staying out of our own way when the competition begins Sunday."

Along with competing against Wisconsin for the second weekend in a row, Illinois State will be competing against 12 other teams, including Austin Peay, Charleston Southern, Kansas, Marquette, Northern Illinois, Northern Kentucky, Rutgers, South Carolina, Missouri- Kansas City, USC Upstate, and Xavier.

Leading the Redbirds this weekend will be Wils Hawn and Parker Freiburg, along with Jordan Fahel, Kyle Meihofer and Josh Edison.

This will be Wisconsin's first time hosting the Badger Invitational since 2003.
