Play 4Kay Video
NORMAL, Ill. - With an overtime victory over Southern Illinois on Feb. 16, there was all sorts of excitement and victory surrounding the fourth-annual Play 4Kay game. The Redbirds pulled ahead in overtime to grab the five-point win, 68-63, while the Play 4Kay event fundraised $21,000 before and during the event.
At halftime, the Illinois State Athletics Department recognized several cancer survivors on the court, sold 106 luminaries, as well as all of the Play 4Kay shirts. Throughout the game, there were 17 treadmill walkers and runners, along with three sprint triathletes who also fundraised for the cause.
Redbird Athletics and the women's basketball team would like to give a special thanks to the generous sponsors that made the Play 4Kay event possible, including Advocate Bromenn Medical Center, Community Cancer Center, Mennonite College of Nursing, the Student Nurses Association at Illinois State University and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, as well as all of the individuals who donated towards the cause.
