NORMAL, Ill. – With the return of the fourth-annual women’s basketball Play 4Kay cancer awareness game on the horizon, Illinois State Athletics will be raising money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund by adding Nike Play 4Kay T-shirt sales to the available options for fans to support cancer research. The Play 4Kay game will be held on Sunday, Feb. 16, when the women’s basketball team takes on Southern Illinois at 2 p.m.
The $30 black “United We Stand” Nike Dri-fit T-shirt is the chosen clothing item ISU has made available to its fans for the fourth-annual event at Redbird Arena. Shirts can be purchased at the Play 4Kay game February 16, near the East entrance on the arena concourse. Limited quantities are available.
In addition to contributing funds to the Kay You Cancer Fund through T-shirt purchases, fans also have the option to donate money to the ISU women’s basketball fundraising campaign online by visiting www.GoRedbirds.com/play4kay. Fans wishing to donate in-person can do so at every home game leading up to the event, by locating the donation table on the arena concourse.
Founded in 2007 by North Carolina State coaching legend Coach Kay Yow, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund is committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women’s cancers through fundraising for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. The goals of the Play 4Kay game at Illinois State are to promote awareness and raise funds for scientific research to fight women’s cancers, as well as celebrate and uplift, cancer survivors and those currently battling cancer in our community.
The ISU Athletics Department and women’s basketball team would like to give a special thanks to the generous sponsors that make the Play 4Kay event possible, including Advocate Bromenn Medical Center, Community Cancer Center, Mennonite College of Nursing, the Student Nurses Association at Illinois State University and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
