After the first round against a competitive field, Illinois State currently sits in 11th place at the Seminole Intercollegiate. The Redbirds finished the day on the par-72, 7,172-yard course with a team score of 304, only two strokes from the being in the top-10. Due to the weather forecast for Sunday, the remaining two rounds will be played Saturday.

"Despite our team score, we have reason to be optimistic with two rounds to play," head coach Ray Kralis said. "There is a fine line between our outcome and a solid start. We are getting a better feel for the course and its subtleties, and with 36 holes Saturday, we have a chance to get some momentum going and move up the leaderboard."

The Redbirds stuck together after four of five players shot a 76. Wils Hawn, Parker Freiburg, Jordan Fahel, and Josh Edison are all currently tied for 41st place on the individual leaderboard. Teammate Tyler Gentilella finished the day with a score of 80 and tied for 67th place.

Top-50 ranked Mercer leads the field with a team score of 282 followed by James Madison with a 287 to end the day. Trey Ruler of Mercer clenched the first-place position on the individual leaderboard by one stroke, after firing a 69. There is a four-way tie for second between Coastal Carolina's Ben Wheeler, Jon Weiss from James Madison, Florida State's Jack Maguire and Hans Reimers from Mercer. Illinois State's team score helped it finish the day ahead of Western Kentucky, as well as George Washington.

The final 36-holes will be played Saturday with competition resuming at 7:30 am (CST) with a shotgun start.
