Tyler Gentilella claimed first place at the War on 74 Individual Challenge hosted by Illinois State at the Weibring Golf Club. Going head-to-head against Missouri Valley Conference rival Bradley, Gentilella carded a two-above-par 73.

Despite unfavorable weather conditions, head coach Ray Kralis was glad his squad got the opportunity to compete.

"The cold and wind put a premium on both the mental and physical aspects of the game," Kralis said. " It was a good test as we gear up for a stretch run. Competitors had to stay patient, be mentally tough, and in control of the golf ball, and Tyler and Parker both did that with impressive scores in challenging conditions. Wils and Jordan stayed close to the top so our nucleus is right where it needs to be."

Senior Parker Freiburg tied for second with a score of 74 followed by senior Wils Hawn, who tied for fourth with a 75. Junior Jordan Fahel finished the round with a 76 and tied for sixth place. . Josh Edison carded a 78 followed by teammates Kyle Meihofer and Tyler Pope-Ferguson, who tied with a score of 80. Turner Reid finished the day with an 82.

The Redbirds will return to competition at the ASU Red Wolf Classic, April 7-8.
