Rosch Honored as Hammer Strength All-American

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State volleyball player Ashley Rosch has been selected as a Hammer Strength All-American, as announced at the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) National Conference.

The Hammer Strength award recognizes the most outstanding college athletes, who exemplify what it takes, on and off the court, to become an elite athlete.

Rosch, 2012 MVC Freshman of the Year, and 2013 conference first- team selection, has been a crucial member of the Redbird volleyball team.  During the 2013 season, Rosch ranked first on the team in points, kills and kills per set, and has stepped up as a leader within the team, which recently welcomed six newcomers for the fall. Off the court, Rosch excels in the classroom, being selected to the 2013 MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team, as well as an Afni Honor Roll student-athlete as a freshman and sophomore.

Strength and conditioning coach Chris Winters, with the support of the Illinois State Sports Performance staff, nominated Rosch in February.

"I selected Ashley because her athletic accomplishments, strong academic record, and intangible characteristics in training embody the standard for Illinois State Athletics," Winters said. "I felt as though she was a tremendous representative of ISU."

Recipients of this award possess much more than athletic ability alone, with skills such as intensity, work ethic, consistency and teamwork all taken into consideration in the selection process. These athletes demonstrate exemplary dedication to all aspects of their lives, from strength and conditioning, to their performance in the classroom and on the court.

Hammer Strength partnered with CSCCa to create the Hammer Strength All American Athlete Award in 2013, which is announced annually at the CSCCa National Conference.
