NORMAL, Ill. – Paul DeJong's summer just keeps getting better.
After finishing the 2014 season leading the Redbirds with a .349 batting average and 48 RBIs on his way to earning All-Valley honors, DeJong has stayed hot this summer as a member of the Wisconsin Woodchucks of the Northwoods League.
DeJong broke the Woodchucks' single-season home run record with a two-run shot in the first inning of a 7-4 win over Kenosha on July 10, and was named to the Northwoods League All-Star Game the following day.
The native of Antioch, Illinois, is currently hitting .291 with team highs in home runs (13), RBIs (38) and runs scored (39) through 46 games this summer. He has four multi-hit games over his last six games played, helping the Woodchucks win four of those contests.
The Northwoods League All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, July 22 at 6:45 p.m. at Kapco Park in Mequon, Wisconsin. DeJong's all-star experience will begin with a banquet on July 21, where the featured speaker will be Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig. As a member of the South Division All-Stars, DeJong will be coached by MLB Hall of Famer Robin Yount.
