NORMAL, Ill. – Eric Aguilera's baseball résumé continues to grow in his second season in the professional ranks.
The former ISU standout, currently playing for the Class A Burlington Bees, has twice been named a Midwest League Player of the Week, and was named to the Midwest League All-Star Game last month. Aguilera helped the West Division All-Stars to a 7-0 win as the team's starting first baseman in the June 17 showcase.
Aguilera leads his team with a .302 batting average, which ranks in the top 10 among active players in the Midwest League. He also leads the Bees in home runs (11) and RBIs (55), ranking fifth among Midwest League players in the latter category.
The former Redbird has hit safely in six straight games, recording two doubles, five runs scored, two stolen bases and one RBI over the stretch, as the Bees have gone 3-3.
Aguilera's early season success helped the team clinch a second-place finish in the first-half divisional standings, and a Midwest League postseason berth.
