ST LOUIS – Illinois State's Emily Orrick has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, after helping the Redbird volleyball team to a 2-1 record at the Oregon Tournament over the weekend.
Orrick, a senior libero, led the Redbirds in digs in all three matches. She posted a season-high 30 digs in a 3-1 win over Central Arkansas Friday, before recording totals of 17 and 25 digs in matches against Ohio State and Oregon, respectively, on Saturday. Orrick also chipped in five assists and one service ace over the three matches.
Illinois State's Ashley Rosch and Jaelyn Keene were also recognized for their notable performances over the weekend in the Missouri Valley's weekly release.
The Redbirds are back in action this weekend at the Missouri Tiger Invitational in Columbia, Missouri. Play begins Friday with matches against Oakland (10 a.m.) and host Missouri (6:30 p.m.), and continues Saturday with Xavier (12 p.m.) and Lipscomb (4 p.m.).
