NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State senior baseball player Dennis Colon was recognized as the PNC Bank Student-Athlete Achiever of the Game during Illinois State's men's basketball game against No. 19 Northern Iowa Sunday on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena.
Colon, an infielder from Arecibo, Puerto Rico, was an All-MVC Honorable Mention selection in 2014 as he helped the Redbirds to the MVC Tournament's title game for the second year in a row. Colon hit .257 with a .351 on-base percentage, while adding five doubles, three triples, 26 runs scored and 28 RBIs in 2014.
Colon majors in exercise science and sports a grade-point average of 3.54.
The Illinois State baseball team opens the 2015 season on Feb. 13 with a four-game series at Arkansas State.
