Weisbecker Scholarship Fund Launches 2015 Annual Campaign

NORMAL, Ill. – With another record-topping year in the books, the Illinois State Athletic Department is poised to launch its 2015 Weisbecker Scholarship Fund (WSF) annual campaign. In 2014, the WSF saw an increase in membership (1,950 members) and topped $2,000,000 in total giving for the second-consecutive year.

"Looking back on 2014, we want to give a very sincere thank you to all of the Redbird faithful that generously showed their support by making a gift to the Weisbecker Scholarship Fund," Illinois State Director of Athletics Larry Lyons said. "We continue to push the bar higher in terms of success, both athletically and academically, and with help in 2015, we can continue to build on the success of 2014."

As scholarship, facility, and operational costs continue to rise, it is important for the WSF to continue to grow both its membership and giving numbers.  In an effort to increase in both of those areas, the organization has updated its referral process, which will allow current donors to earn priority points for referring new members.

With an increase in expected season ticket sales and a continued growth in the WSF membership base, priority points become more important for priority seating, parking, and postseason ticket allocation. WSF members have first access to postseason tickets, as well as moving seats and parking.  Therefore, it is crucial for those interested to increase giving or start an account and make a gift.

New in 2015 is a modified benefits chart, which includes an invitation to the first-ever State of the Redbirds Address (date TBD) with Lyons.  New benefits to members also include monthly updates via WSF infographic, and recognition at Donor Appreciation Night at a Redbird football or men's basketball game.

"The Weisbecker Scholarship Fund is integral in our ability to provide student-athletes with the resources needed to excel in competition, in the classroom, and in the community," Illinois State Director of Annual Giving Sean Johnson stated.  "As we build for the future at ISU, we ask that our current donors continue to be passionate about ISU and the WSF and help us grow our giving and our membership in 2015 and beyond."

There has never been a better time to invest in ISU Athletics than now. Whether it is a gift to WSF, a facility improvement, or a specific sport, the WSF needs year-round support to continue improving. Gifts can be made at weisbeckerfund.com or by calling the WSF office line directly at (309) 438-3803.
