NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's and women's cross country teams travel to Champaign, Illinois to compete in the Illini Open. The meet is set to start Friday with the women's 5K at 4 p.m. and the men's 8K following at 4:40 p.m.
This will be the last meet of the regular season before the Missouri Valley Conference Championships (Oct. 31).
The Illini Open is hosted at the UI Arboretum Cross Country Course. The race will start in a relatively flat open area with winding paths passing around a pond, through a walnut grove, and over a manmade hill that serves as the highest point of the course. The majority of the surface is grass with a few exceptions when the course parallels a gravel road and crosses wood chipped paths.
