Redbird Baseball Hosting Blood Drive Dec. 4

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball team will partner with the American Red Cross to host its 11th-annual blood drive, Dec. 4 in the Redbird Room at Redbird Arena. The blood drive will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

"The blood drive is a community service event I look forward to each December," said Illinois State head coach Bo Durkac. "The American Red Cross does a great job helping us organize it, but it's up to the baseball program to solicit donors for this worthy cause. By starting the marketing campaign today, I am hoping to increase the number of participants in order to surpass last year's totals."

Forty-six donors, including 18 first-time donors, donated a total of 42 pints of blood at last year's blood drive.

Over the past 10 years, Illinois State's baseball players and coaches have helped collect 443 pints of blood. Each pint is capable of saving up to three lives.

Please contact Laurie Retzer at ljretze@ilstu.edu or (309) 438-3633 in order to sign up. Walk-up donations will also be accepted.
