NORMAL, Ill. – An important Missouri Valley Conference series looms this weekend for the Illinois State softball team. Sitting at third in the conference standings, the Redbirds are currently behind the second-place Missouri State Bears. This Saturday and Sunday ISU hosts Missouri State in a three-game series.
Sunday is Redbird softball's Pack the Park game and fans of all ages are welcome with free admission. The first 200 fans will receive a free Advocate BroMenn water bottle and the first 100 students will receive a free Redbird pennant.
In addition, Illinois State president Larry Dietz will be throwing out the first pitch and Alamo II will be selling merchandise on the concourse.
Sunday also means it is Dollar Day at the concession stand as hot dogs and pink lemonade can be purchased for just one dollar. There will also be a postgame meet and greet following the conclusion of the ballgame. Fans can meet the Redbirds and also get an autographed copy of the official 2015 team poster.
First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Marian Kneer Stadium.
