NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State baseball alum Jeremy Rhoades competed against the top players in the Class A Midwest League Tuesday night in the league's annual all-star game.
A current member of the Burlington Bees, Rhoades pitched a scoreless fifth inning for the Midwest League's West All-Stars on Tuesday. Rhoades worked around a hit and a walk, while striking out one, in the scoreless frame. The East All-Stars scored a 5-0 win in the exhibition showcase.
Rhoades has been stellar at Burlington this year, leading the team in both strikeouts and innings pitched. He is currently 4-4 with a 3.04 ERA in 13 games, including 12 starts. He has 66 strikeouts in 68 innings of work, against only 14 walks allowed.
Rhoades struck out nine over seven scoreless innings in a 3-1 win over the Quad Cities River Bandits on May 29, just three starts after taking a no-hitter into the eighth inning of a game at Kane County on May 13.
