NORMAL, Ill. – Brock Stewart turned in his best performance as a member of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes Saturday at Lake Elsinore.
The former Redbird baseball player, making his sixth start in the Class A Advanced California League after a May call-up from the Class A Midwest League, pitched six innings of one-run baseball against Lake Elsinore on June 27, allowing just three hits and one walk against three strikeouts.
Stewart settled for a no-decision after leaving a tied game, dropping his California League ERA to 6.15. The 6-foot-3 right-hander is currently 1-1 and has struck out 30 batters in 26.1 innings of work since the call-up, after posting a 2-2 record and a 2.84 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 38 innings of work, spanning seven starts, at Great Lakes.
For the season, Stewart is 3-3 with a 4.20 ERA and 68 strikeouts over 64.1 innings of work in his two minor-league stops this season.
