Redbirds in the Pros: Aguilera Heats Up in California League

NORMAL, Ill. – July has been a good month for former Redbird Eric Aguilera.

In 25 games this month, Aguilera is hitting a stellar .372 in the Class A Advanced California League, as a member of the Inland Empire 66ers. Aguilera has tallied 14 doubles and four home runs in July, and recently pieced together a 12-game hitting streak. Aguilera registered seven multi-hit games during the hitting streak, and doubled in seven-straight games from July 21-27.

Playing first base and batting primarily in the No. 3 spot in the batting order, Aguilera is slashing .321/.378/.562 in 91 games at Inland Empire this season. He ranks second in the California League in doubles (32), third in batting average (.321) and total bases (190), fifth in RBIs (67), 12th in runs (57) and 17th in home runs (13).

In his last 10 games, Aguilera is hitting a robust .395 with two home runs, eight doubles, six RBIs, nine runs scored and a pair of stolen bases.
