NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State volleyball team will host its annual Red and White Scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 22 at Redbird Arena. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
The Redbirds will split into two squads for the match, which will feature at least two full sets. Admission to the scrimmage is free, and season-ticket packages will be available for $35.
The Redbirds return seven letterwinners from the 2014 team that went 27-6 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The 2014 Redbirds won their first Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and tournament titles in 17 years, while setting a program record with a 23-match winning streak.Â
Among the returners are three-time All-MVC selection Ashley Rosch and 2014 American Volleyball Coaches Association North Region Freshman of the Year Jaelyn Keene.
The team will open the 2015 season at the Hurricane Invitational, in Coral Gables, Florida, Aug. 28-29. The Redbirds will also travel to tournaments hosted by Harvard (Sept. 4-5) and Dayton (18-19), and will host the Country Financial Redbird Classic (Sept. 11-12) at Redbird Arena, all before league play begins in late September.
