NORMAL, Ill. – After nearly two months on the disabled list, former Redbird Chad Hinshaw is back to playing center field and batting third in the lineup for the Class AA Arkansas Travelers.
Hinshaw, a 15th round selection of the Los Angeles Angels in 2013, made the jump to double-A this year, and was sporting a .395 on-base percentage in the Texas League on May 10 when he suffered a thumb injury sliding headfirst into second base.
After spending 60 days on the disabled list, the Bloomington, Illinois, native returned to action July 9 for a rehab stint with the Angels' Arizona League affiliate, where he slashed .308/.471/.462 in eight games.
He got the call back to Arkansas on July 22 and has picked up right where he left off in May. Hinshaw is hitting .298 with four doubles, eight RBIs and six stolen bases in 14 games since his return.
In 41 games at the double-A level this season, he is slashing .273/.384/.373 with 12 doubles, 20 RBIs, 30 runs scored and 11 stolen bases.
